bet365 is the largest privately owned online bookmaker in the world: a Stoke-on-Trent business that grew from a portable cabin in 2000 into a sportsbook and casino licensed across Britain, much of Europe, Canada, Australia and 18 US states. Its reputation rests on in-play betting, live streaming and sheer market depth. 2026 has also been a hard year for it, with a near doubling of UK online gaming tax, 340 job cuts, an anti-money-laundering undertaking in Australia, a self-exclusion fine in New Jersey and the sudden closure of Brazil, one of its biggest markets. This review covers where bet365 is licensed in October 2026, what the welcome offers are worth in each main market, how the product and payments compare, and what players actually say about it.
- Licensed, not offshore: bet365 holds local licences in every market we cover it for, including the UK Gambling Commission, Spain’s DGOJ, Sweden’s Spelinspektionen, Germany’s GGL, iGaming Ontario, Alberta and 18 US state regulators. It does not accept cryptocurrency.
- Offers differ by market: UK players get £30 in free bets for a £10 bet, plus a separate no-wagering free-spins casino offer, because mixed sports-and-casino bonuses have been banned since 19 January 2026. US offers ran at $365 in bonus bets for a $10 bet in September 2026. Australia allows no sign-up offers at all.
- Product strength: in-play markets, live streaming, Bet Builder and the Early Payout offer remain the benchmark for mainstream sportsbooks.
- 2026 pressure: Remote Gaming Duty rose from 21% to 40% in April 2026, bet365 announced about 340 job cuts in September, signed an AUSTRAC enforceable undertaking in July and was fined $33,000 in New Jersey in October.
- Our score: 4.7 / 5. Excellent for sports bettors in licensed markets, with the usual caveat about stake limits on consistently winning accounts.

Our verdict on bet365
For a mainstream bettor in a licensed market, bet365 is hard to beat. The in-play offer is the deepest we have seen from any regulated operator, live streaming covers thousands of events a year, and features such as Bet Builder, Edit Bet and Early Payout are polished and quick. It is why bet365 sits near the top of our sportsbook rankings. The casino is a solid add-on rather than the main event, and in the UK it now runs a free-spins offer with no wagering on winnings, which is fairer than most.
The weaknesses are familiar ones for big bookmakers. Accounts that win consistently can find their maximum stakes cut, the Trustpilot score is very low, and regulators on three continents have taken action against bet365 for compliance failures over the years. None of that changes the fact that it is licensed wherever it operates, which gives you a regulator and, in the UK, an independent dispute route if something goes wrong. That is a different level of protection from an offshore crypto site such as Stake.
bet365 suits recreational sports bettors who want the widest in-play menu, streaming and quick withdrawals from a licensed brand. If you bet for value and expect to win long term, open accounts with several bookmakers as well, because stake limits are common. If you want to bet with crypto, bet365 is not an option: see our crypto sports betting guide instead.
Pros and cons
What we like
- The deepest in-play menu of any licensed sportsbook, with fast, reliable bet acceptance.
- Live streaming on a large number of events for funded accounts.
- Bet Builder, Edit Bet, cash out and the Early Payout offer on football and other sports.
- Licensed by strict regulators in every market we list it for.
- Quick e-wallet and debit card withdrawals once your account is verified.
- A UK casino offer with no wagering on free-spin winnings.
What to watch
- Stake limits on winning accounts are a recurring complaint.
- A 1.3 / 5 Trustpilot score, driven by account restrictions and withdrawal disputes.
- Welcome offers are paid as bet credits or bonus bets, so the stake is not returned.
- No cryptocurrency deposits or withdrawals anywhere.
- Recent regulatory actions in Australia and New Jersey, plus earlier UK fines.
- Interface is dense and dated next to newer US apps.
Ownership, licences and safety
bet365 was founded by Denise Coates in 2000 and is still privately owned by her family, which makes it unusual among the industry’s biggest names. Its accounts for the year to March 2025, published in December 2025, showed revenue of about £4bn but pre-tax profit down to £349m from £627m a year earlier, as the company spent heavily on US expansion. The accounts for the year to March 2026 are expected around the end of 2026.
Each market is served by a locally licensed subsidiary, mostly trading under Hillside company names. Licence status is product-specific, so the table below shows what each regulator covers as of October 2026.
| Market | Regulator | Products | Status, October 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | UK Gambling Commission | Sports, casino, poker, bingo | Licensed |
| United States | 18 state regulators | Sports in 18 states; casino in NJ, PA, MI and WV | Licensed; West Virginia went live on 27 August 2026 |
| Canada: Ontario | AGCO / iGaming Ontario | Sports and casino | Licensed since the 2022 market launch |
| Canada: Alberta | AGLC | Sports and casino | Registered; live from the 13 July 2026 launch |
| Australia | Australian licensing, ACMA oversight | Sports and racing only | Licensed; online casino games are illegal in Australia |
| Germany | GGL | Sports betting and virtual slots | On the GGL whitelist |
| Spain | DGOJ | Sports and casino | Licensed |
| Sweden | Spelinspektionen | Sports and casino | Licensed to 31 December 2028 |
| Brazil | SPA | Sports and casino | Offline since 6 October 2026 under the national ban |
Regulatory record
bet365 has been sanctioned several times. Britain’s Gambling Commission fined it £582,120 in 2024 for anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failings. In July 2026 it entered a court-enforceable undertaking with AUSTRAC, Australia’s financial intelligence agency, after the regulator found serious gaps in how it managed money-laundering risk and reported suspicious activity; an undertaking commits the company to fixing its systems rather than imposing a penalty. On 6 October 2026 New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement fined it $33,000 for breaching self-exclusion rules, which require operators to keep self-excluded players out and stop marketing to them. bet365 accepted the penalty.
What a licence means for you
Licensed operators must verify your identity, keep customer funds protected to a stated level, offer deposit limits and self-exclusion, and answer to a regulator. In the UK you can take an unresolved complaint to an approved alternative dispute resolution service. Our crypto casino licence guide explains how these protections compare with offshore licences.
Where bet365 is available
bet365 only operates where it holds a local licence, so the experience, bonuses and products change at the border. Here is what to expect in each of the markets we cover.
United Kingdom
The UK is bet365’s home and largest market. All products are available, and the UK site carries the full in-play and streaming offer. See our UK betting guide for how UK rules on stakes, bonuses and affordability apply.
United States
After West Virginia went live on 27 August 2026, bet365 runs a sportsbook in 18 states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Missouri launched on 1 December 2025 and Michigan in April 2026. Online casino is only legal in a few states, and bet365 offers it in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia. Industry data cited by Covers put its share of US online sports betting revenue at 3.6% in July 2026, double a year earlier. Our US market page lists which states allow which products.
Canada
bet365 has been licensed in Ontario since the province opened its market in 2022 and joined Alberta’s new regulated market on launch day, 13 July 2026, as one of six operators approved for both sports betting and casino. It also became an official betting partner of the Canadian Football League in both provinces. Outside these two provinces, check our Canada page for the legal position.
Australia
Australian law allows licensed online sports and racing betting but bans online casino games, so bet365 Australia is a sportsbook only. Credit card and crypto deposits have been banned for Australian wagering accounts since June 2024. More on our Australia page.
Germany, Spain and Sweden
In Germany, bet365 appears on the GGL whitelist for sports betting and virtual slot games, which come with Germany’s €1 maximum spin stake and cross-operator deposit limits. In Spain it is licensed by the DGOJ for sports and casino. In Sweden Spelinspektionen licenses it to the end of 2028; Swedish law allows only one bonus, at first deposit, and requires every player to set limits.
Brazil and other exits
Brazil had become one of bet365’s largest markets after it took a federal licence in 2025. On 25 September 2026 the Brazilian government issued a provisional measure banning fixed-odds betting and online casino games; licensed sites went offline from 6 October and balances must be returned to players. The measure still needs Congress to approve it and is being challenged in court. See our Brazil page for updates. Earlier, in March 2025, bet365 stopped accepting customers in China.
If bet365 is not licensed where you live, do not use a VPN or false details to open an account. Your account can be closed and winnings withheld, and you will have no regulator to turn to.
Welcome offers by market
bet365 runs a different offer in nearly every market, shaped by local rules. These were the main open-account offers reported in September and October 2026.
| Market | Sports offer | Casino offer | Key terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK | Bet £10, get £30 in free bets | Up to 500 free spins over 10 reveals | Min odds 1/5; free bets as Bet Credits; spin winnings paid as cash |
| US (most states) | Bet $10, get $365 in bonus bets, or First Bet Safety Net up to $1,000 | Deposit match up to $1,000 plus spins in casino states | Choose one sports offer; 21+; one account across all states |
| US (IL, TN) | Bet $10, get $150 in bonus bets | No online casino | State-specific version |
| Ontario | Bet C$10, get C$50 in bonus bets, or First Bet Safety Net up to C$1,000 | Spins offer not available in Ontario | Min odds -500; one offer only |
| Australia | None | Not offered | Sign-up inducements banned nationally |
| Germany, Spain, Sweden | Limited or none | Limited or none | Local advertising and bonus rules apply |
How the UK 10x wagering cap affects bet365
Since 19 January 2026, UK-licensed operators cannot require more than ten times the bonus to be wagered before winnings can be withdrawn, and cannot offer bonuses that require you to play more than one product, such as a bet that unlocks casino spins. That is why bet365’s UK sports and casino offers are now completely separate. The £30 free-bet offer is unaffected by the cap because winnings from free bets are paid as cash; the free-spins offer goes further than the rule requires, with no wagering at all on spin winnings.
You place a £10 bet on a football match at 4/5, the minimum odds being 1/5. Win or lose, you receive £30 in Bet Credits. If you place one £10 Bet Credit at evens and it wins, you receive £10, because the free-bet stake is not returned. Spread all £30 across fair evens selections and the expected return is about £15 in cash (half win, each returning its £10 stake value as profit), before the bookmaker’s margin. Free bets are worth roughly half their face value at evens.
Terms that trip people up
- In the UK, Bet Credits expire after 7 days and you have 30 days from opening the account to qualify.
- Deposits by PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Paysafecard may not qualify for the UK offer until identity documents are verified.
- In the US, any previous bet365 account, even in another state, makes you ineligible.
- In the US, bonus bets are non-withdrawable and the stake is not returned.
- Only one sports welcome offer can be claimed in the US and Ontario.
Our casino bonuses explained guide shows how to value free bets and spins.
Sportsbook and betting features
The sportsbook is the reason to choose bet365. Pre-match markets cover all major sports and a long tail of minor ones, but in-play is where it stands apart: thousands of live events a week, many with dozens of markets, and quick bet acceptance.
| Feature | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| In-play betting | Live markets with match trackers and statistics | The broadest live menu of any licensed book |
| Live streaming | Video of football, tennis, racing, basketball and more | Requires a funded account or a recent bet; rights vary by country |
| Bet Builder | Combine several markets from one match | Called same-game parlays in the US |
| Early Payout | Pays a football bet as a winner if your team goes two goals ahead | Other sports have their own versions |
| Edit Bet | Add, swap or remove selections on an open bet | Effectively cashes out and re-bets at current prices |
| Cash out | Settle a bet early for a quoted value | Full and partial cash out |
Prices are competitive on major football markets but not always the best available, so serious bettors still compare odds. Our guide to sports betting odds explains how to convert and compare them. Unlike some US rivals, bet365 does not offer prediction markets or a betting exchange; its exit from the American Gaming Association in March 2026 prompted speculation, but it has made no filing to enter that space.
Casino, live casino and poker
Where casino is legal, bet365 runs a large slot library, its own exclusive games, jackpots and a live-dealer section. In the US the casino is available in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, where Jackpot365 launched in 2026. It is a decent all-round casino, but casino-first brands such as LeoVegas, 888 and BetMGM offer more variety and loyalty value.
UK slots are subject to stake limits of £5 per spin, or £2 for players aged 18 to 24. German slots are capped at €1 a spin with a five-second minimum spin time.
Payments and withdrawal speed
bet365 supports local payment methods in each market. It does not accept cryptocurrency, and Australian law bars credit cards and digital currency for wagering accounts. In the UK, credit cards have been banned for gambling since April 2020.
| Method | Typical withdrawal time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | A few hours, up to 24 hours | UK minimum £10, maximum £5,500 per transaction |
| Visa debit (Fast Funds) | Often within 2 hours | Depends on your bank supporting Fast Funds |
| Apple Pay | Often within hours | Withdrawals go back to the linked card |
| Bank transfer | 1–3 banking days | Minimum around £5 |
| Skrill, Neteller | Usually within 24 hours | May be excluded from promotions |
| Paysafecard | Deposit only | Excluded from UK welcome offers |
bet365 aims to process most withdrawals the same day. The usual delay is verification: if you have not completed identity checks, a withdrawal can be held until you do. Requests at weekends and bank holidays may not move until the next working day. Our deposits and withdrawals guide explains how to avoid holds.
Responsible-gambling tools and helplines
As a licensed operator, bet365 must give you deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion, and in the UK it must run affordability checks on higher spending. Use the tools before you need them: set a deposit limit when you open the account, and treat betting as paid entertainment rather than income. Our responsible gambling guide covers how to set limits that work.
| Market | Self-exclusion scheme | Free helpline |
|---|---|---|
| UK | GAMSTOP | GamCare, 0808 8020 133 |
| US | State self-exclusion lists | 1-800-MY-RESET |
| Ontario | iGaming Ontario self-exclusion | ConnexOntario, 1-866-531-2600 |
| Australia | BetStop, the national register | Gambling Help Online, 1800 858 858 |
| Germany | OASIS | BIÖG, 0800 1 37 27 00 |
| Spain | RGIAJ | Jugadores Anónimos |
| Sweden | Spelpaus | Stödlinjen, 020-819 100 |
The New Jersey fine in October 2026 is a reminder that self-exclusion only works if operators enforce it. If you have self-excluded and still receive marketing or can log in, report it to the regulator. More help is on our responsible gambling page.
bet365 in 2026: tax, job cuts and market moves
- March 2026: bet365 left the American Gaming Association, saying the group’s land-based focus did not fit its online business.
- April 2026: UK Remote Gaming Duty on online casino rose from 21% to 40% of gross gaming revenue. Remote betting duty on most sports bets is due to rise from 15% to 25% in April 2027. Michigan sportsbook and casino launched.
- July 2026: AUSTRAC enforceable undertaking in Australia. Alberta launch on 13 July.
- August 2026: West Virginia sportsbook and casino launch, the 18th US state.
- September 2026: about 340 roles cut in Stoke-on-Trent, Malta and Gibraltar, starting with voluntary redundancy; bet365 cited competition and higher regulatory and tax costs. Brazil’s betting ban announced on 25 September.
- October 2026: Brazilian sites offline from 6 October; $33,000 New Jersey self-exclusion fine.
For players, the UK tax rise matters most. Operators facing a 40% duty on casino revenue have cut bonuses, trimmed staff and closed shops across the industry. bet365 has kept its headline UK offers so far, but expect promotions to stay tighter than before 2026.
What players say
bet365’s UK Trustpilot page showed a score of 1.3 out of 5 from about 7,100 reviews in October 2026, with 89% one-star ratings. The recurring themes are accounts restricted or closed after wins, withdrawals held for verification or source-of-funds checks, voided bets, and scripted customer service. Trustpilot does not verify reviews and unhappy customers are far more likely to post, so the score says more about friction points than about the typical experience.
Two of those friction points are real and worth planning for. Stake limits on winning accounts are common practice at large bookmakers, and bet365 is no exception. Affordability and source-of-funds checks are required by UK and other regulators, so have payslips or bank statements ready if you deposit large amounts. Players also consistently praise the in-play product and streaming, which is why the brand keeps its customers despite the complaints.
How bet365 compares
