BetMGM is one of the biggest names in regulated online gambling in North America: a sportsbook in more than 25 US jurisdictions, an online casino in four states, poker, and a direct link to MGM Rewards, the loyalty scheme of the MGM Resorts casinos. It also runs separate sites in Ontario, Alberta and Great Britain. Unlike the crypto casinos we review, it is licensed by state and provincial regulators and by the UK Gambling Commission, takes no cryptocurrency, and verifies every player before they can play. This review covers BetMGM as it stands in October 2026: where it is live, what the welcome offers are really worth, how withdrawals and rewards work, the fines and strategy changes of 2026, and who should pick it over rivals such as Caesars, FanDuel and DraftKings.
- Who runs it: in the US and Canada BetMGM is a 50/50 joint venture between MGM Resorts and Entain. The British site, betmgm.co.uk, is run separately by MGM’s LeoVegas Gaming PLC under UK Gambling Commission account 39198.
- Where it is live: online sports betting in about two dozen US states plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico (Missouri was added in December 2025), online casino in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, plus Ontario, Alberta (since 13 July 2026) and Great Britain.
- Welcome offers (October 2026): most US sportsbook states get a first-bet offer of up to $1,500 back in bonus bets; Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia get a bet-$10-get-$150 offer instead; New York has none. UK players get £40 in free bets for a £10 bet, or 200 free spins on the casino.
- 2026 news: a $100,000 Pennsylvania fine in March over weak identity checks, two guidance cuts blamed on prediction markets, and a takeover bid for MGM Resorts that was dropped in September. BetMGM does not offer prediction markets.
- No crypto: BetMGM pays out by PayPal, Play+, debit card and bank transfer. If you want to gamble with crypto, see our crypto casino rankings instead.

Offers, state lists and payment options at BetMGM change often, and they differ by state and country. Everything here was checked against 2026 sources; the terms shown in your own account are the final word.
Our verdict on BetMGM
BetMGM is the strongest all-rounder for players who care about the casino as much as the sportsbook. Its online casino library is one of the deepest in the US market, with exclusive and in-house slots and progressive jackpots that you will not find at sportsbook-first brands. The sportsbook is solid rather than outstanding, with a wide market list, same-game parlays and frequent odds boosts. The real differentiator is the link to MGM Rewards: online play earns tier credits and points that count at MGM resorts in Las Vegas and around the country.
The caveats are the ones you get with any large regulated operator. Welcome offers vary by state and come with wagering on the casino side, first withdrawals wait on identity checks, and the company has collected several regulatory fines. 2026 has also been a difficult year commercially: BetMGM cut its outlook twice and blamed competition from prediction markets. None of that affects how safe your balance is, but it is useful context for where the brand is heading.
BetMGM suits players in a casino state (MI, NJ, PA or WV) who want a big slot and jackpot library alongside a sportsbook, and anyone who visits MGM resorts and wants online play to count towards their status. Pure sports bettors chasing the sharpest prices may prefer to compare it with other US sportsbooks first.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Licensed by US state regulators, iGaming Ontario, Alberta and the UK Gambling Commission.
- One of the largest online casino libraries in the US, with exclusive titles and progressive jackpot networks.
- Online play feeds MGM Rewards, with perks at MGM resorts.
- Fast payouts once verified, especially to PayPal and the Play+ card.
- A broad set of responsible-gambling tools: deposit, wager and time limits, cool-off and self-exclusion.
- Sportsbook available in more US states than most rivals.
What to watch
- Welcome offers differ by state, and casino deposit matches carry 15x wagering in most reports.
- No crypto deposits or withdrawals in any market.
- Online casino only in four US states.
- Several fines from regulators, including Pennsylvania in 2025 and 2026.
- Sportsbook odds are competitive but rarely the best in the market.
- UK reviewers report withdrawals held up by verification checks.
Licences, ownership and safety
BetMGM launched in 2018 as a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and the British gambling group Entain, which owns Ladbrokes and Coral. Each partner holds 50%. In every US state the business is licensed by that state’s regulator, such as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement or the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. In Ontario it operates under an agreement with iGaming Ontario and registration with the AGCO, and in Alberta it was added to the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) registration list on 1 May 2026, covering casino, sportsbook and poker.
The British site is a different business. MGM Resorts bought the Swedish operator LeoVegas in 2022 and launched BetMGM in Great Britain in 2023 through it, without Entain. The UK Gambling Commission register lists betmgm.co.uk under LeoVegas Gaming PLC, account 39198. The sportsbook technology comes from Kambi; the casino is run on LeoVegas’s platform.
What regulation means for you
Because BetMGM is licensed where it operates, your funds and your disputes have a regulator behind them. US states require operators to keep player funds segregated, to verify identity and location, and to honour state self-exclusion lists. In Great Britain the UKGC sets rules on affordability, advertising and bonuses, and disputes can go to an approved alternative dispute resolution service. That is a very different level of protection from an offshore crypto casino; our guide to gambling licences explains the gap.
Fines and enforcement
Regulation also means public enforcement. In March 2026 the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board fined BetMGM $100,000 because its identity checks let organised fraud groups open accounts with stolen personal details and fund them with stolen payment cards; four schemes produced more than $2 million in wagers over roughly two years. Earlier penalties include a Pennsylvania fine of more than $260,000 in January 2025 for letting self-excluded people gamble, a C$110,000 penalty in Ontario and a $10,000 fine in Massachusetts. These are compliance failures, not signs that BetMGM is unsafe for ordinary players, but they show why regulators keep pressing on verification and self-exclusion.
Where BetMGM is available in October 2026
BetMGM is only available where it holds a licence, and you must be physically inside that state or province when you bet. The apps use geolocation to check this every session. Age limits are 21+ in US states and set locally elsewhere: 19+ in Ontario, 18+ in Alberta and 18+ in Great Britain.
| Market | Sportsbook | Online casino |
|---|---|---|
| Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia | Yes | Yes |
| Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana | Yes | No |
| Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New York | Yes | No |
| North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Wyoming | Yes | No |
| Washington, DC and Puerto Rico | Yes | No |
| Oregon, Washington state | Retail only | No |
| Ontario, Alberta | Yes | Yes |
| Great Britain | Yes | Yes |
Missouri, which launched on 1 December 2025 through a partnership with Century Casinos, is the most recent US state. Industry guides disagree slightly on the total count because of retail-only states and Mississippi, where mobile betting is limited to casino premises. For the wider picture of legal betting by state, see our United States market page.
In Canada, Ontario has had BetMGM since 2022, and Alberta became the second open provincial market on 13 July 2026, with BetMGM among the launch operators. Reviews describe a heavy Alberta launch budget and a partnership with Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky. Our Canada page covers both provinces. British players should read our UK market guide.
BetMGM welcome offers in October 2026
Every affiliate site advertises its own BetMGM code, but the underlying offers are the same few promotions, and they depend on your state. These were the published terms in early October 2026.
US sportsbook
| Where | Offer | Key terms |
|---|---|---|
| Most sportsbook states (AZ, CO, DC, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MO, NC, OH, TN, VA, WY) | First bet up to $1,500; if it loses, you get the stake back in bonus bets | $10 minimum deposit; losing stakes over $50 refunded as five bonus bets; 7-day expiry |
| Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia | Bet $10, get $150 in bonus bets if the first bet wins | $10 minimum first bet on an eligible market |
| Nevada | Up to $250 back in bonus bets | Separate Nevada app and account |
| New York, Mississippi, Puerto Rico | No welcome offer listed | Ongoing promotions only |
Bonus bets are not cash. If a bonus bet wins, you keep only the profit, not the bonus stake. A refund in five bonus bets also means you cannot put the whole amount on one long-odds pick.
You bet $1,000 on your first wager and it loses. BetMGM returns $1,000 as five $200 bonus bets. Suppose you place each at even money (2.0) and win three. Each winner returns $200 profit, not the $200 stake, so you collect $600 in cash. The headline "$1,500" is a refund in bonus bets, not $1,500 of free money.
US online casino
The casino offer varies the most. In October 2026 review sites described two structures: in New Jersey, a $25 sign-up bonus with no deposit needed plus a 100% deposit match up to $1,000; in Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, a $10 deposit that unlocks up to 1,000 bonus spins over ten days, sometimes paired with a prize wheel that awards deposit matches. Older West Virginia pages still show a larger $50 plus 100% up to $2,500 package, so check the page for your state when you sign up.
Deposit-match bonus money is generally reported at 15x wagering on eligible slots, with 10 to 14 days to complete it, depending on the state. Table games count for less or not at all. Read our casino bonuses explainer before you accept a match.
You deposit $1,000 and get a $1,000 match at 15x. You must wager $15,000 on eligible slots within the time limit. At an average 96% return to player, that much wagering costs about $600 in expected losses (4% of $15,000), so the match is worth roughly $400 on average, before the variance of slots. A smaller match you can comfortably clear is often the better choice. Our RTP guide explains the maths.
UK and Canada
In Great Britain, new sports customers who deposit £10 and place a £10 bet at evens or longer within seven days receive four £10 free bets: two for sport and two for Bet Builders, valid for seven days. New casino customers who wager £10 receive 200 free spins on Big Bass Splash worth 10p each, with winnings paid as cash. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission caps wagering on any UK bonus at 10x and bans offers that mix products, which is why UK offers look simpler than US ones. Ontario rules restrict how bonuses can be advertised, so Canadian offers are shown inside the BetMGM site after registration.
BetMGM Casino: games and features
The casino is where BetMGM stands out. In the US it offers thousands of slots from major suppliers such as IGT, NetEnt, Light & Wonder, Big Time Gaming and Pragmatic Play, plus BetMGM-exclusive titles and branded MGM games. Progressive jackpots are a big part of the draw, including BetMGM’s own in-house jackpot networks. Review sites quote anywhere from about 2,000 to more than 4,000 titles depending on the state; Alberta reviews give figures from 4,000 to 9,500.
Live dealer tables cover blackjack, roulette and baccarat from Evolution along with game shows; Alberta reviews say tables streamed from MGM Grand Las Vegas are planned. The UK casino lists more than 2,000 titles, mostly slots, with a daily free-spin wheel and Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins promotion.
- Slots: classic and video slots, Megaways, jackpot slots and in-house exclusives.
- Table games: RNG blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps and video poker.
- Live casino: Evolution blackjack, roulette and baccarat tables and game shows.
- Poker: BetMGM Poker in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania (shared liquidity varies by state).
Return to player varies by game and sometimes by state. Check the game’s information panel for its RTP, and remember that every casino game has a house edge.
BetMGM Sportsbook: markets and betting tools
The sportsbook covers all major US leagues, college sports, soccer, tennis, golf, combat sports and motorsport, with props, same-game parlays and live in-play betting. Regular features include odds boosts, parlay insurance offers, early cash-out and a same-game parlay builder. Odds are competitive on the main US markets but rarely the best price; compare with bet365 or FanDuel if you shop for lines. Our guide to betting odds explains how to compare prices.
In Great Britain the sportsbook runs on Kambi technology and leans on football, horse racing and Bet Builders. It is a smaller, simpler product than the US app, but reviewers rate the bet builder pricing well.
BetMGM Rewards and MGM Rewards
All US and Canadian BetMGM players are enrolled automatically in BetMGM Rewards, which runs alongside MGM Rewards. There are two currencies: BetMGM Rewards Points, which you spend on site credit, bonus spins or resort perks, and tier credits, which move you up the MGM Rewards ladder. Guides from 2026 describe sports earning of at least 20 points and 20 tier credits per $100 on straight bets and 50 per $100 on parlays. Casino earning depends on the game type, with lower rates on jackpot slots and table games.
| MGM Rewards tier | Tier credits per calendar year |
|---|---|
| Sapphire | 0 (on sign-up) |
| Pearl | 20,000 |
| Gold | 75,000 |
| Platinum | 200,000 |
| Noir | Invitation only |
Higher tiers bring hotel discounts, free parking, priority access and slot-dollar bonuses at MGM properties, and they stop your points from expiring. Points can lapse after 90 days of inactivity at the entry tier, according to 2026 guides. The British site is not linked to MGM Rewards; it uses daily prize wheels and ongoing promotions instead.
If you also play at Borgata, the Atlantic City brand on the same platform, that play also earns BetMGM Rewards and MGM Rewards credit.
Deposits and withdrawals
BetMGM takes standard US payment methods. It does not accept cryptocurrency in any market.
| Method | Deposit | Typical withdrawal time once verified |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | Yes | Usually same day |
| Play+ prepaid card | Yes | Often within hours |
| Visa / Mastercard debit | Yes | Usually 1–3 days |
| Online banking / ACH (VIP Preferred) | Yes | 1–5 business days |
| Cash at the cage | At MGM partner casinos | Same day, in person |
The minimum deposit is $10 for most methods. Your first withdrawal triggers identity verification; reviewers report about 24 hours when documents are clean and several days when they are not. Withdrawals generally go back to the method you deposited with. In Great Britain, deposits start at £10 by debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer, and withdrawals typically take up to five business days, often less. Our deposits and withdrawals guide compares payment rails in more detail.
Responsible-gambling tools
Gambling is paid entertainment, not a way to make money. BetMGM is required by its regulators to offer controls, and they are easy to find under account settings.
- Deposit limits by day, week or month.
- Wager and spend limits, and in some states session time limits and reality checks.
- Cool-off periods from 24 hours to several weeks.
- Self-exclusion through BetMGM and through state self-exclusion programmes; in Great Britain, through GAMSTOP.
- Activity statements showing your net wins and losses.
If gambling stops being fun, set a limit before you next deposit. In the US you can call or text the National Council on Problem Gambling’s 24/7 helpline on 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). In Great Britain, GamCare offers free, confidential support on 0808 8020 133. Our responsible gambling guide and responsible gambling hub list more help.
BetMGM in 2026: the news that matters
Prediction markets and two guidance cuts
BetMGM is the largest US sportsbook without a prediction market product. At the Global Gaming Expo at the end of September 2026, MGM Resorts chief executive Bill Hornbuckle said Nevada regulators had warned that entering the business could affect the company’s licences, and that MGM would stay out. The cost of that choice shows in the results: BetMGM cut its 2026 outlook in April and again in July, saying revenue and profit would land near the bottom of its $2.9–3.1 billion and $300–350 million ranges, and dropped its target of $500 million in annual profit by 2027. It blamed higher marketing costs as prediction market platforms and rivals that have launched them compete for the same customers.
The takeover that did not happen
On 1 June 2026 People Inc., Barry Diller’s company and MGM’s largest shareholder with about 26%, proposed buying the rest of MGM Resorts for $48.30 a share, about $18 billion. That fuelled speculation that MGM might then buy Entain’s half of BetMGM. People Inc. withdrew the proposal in late September, and the BetMGM joint venture is unchanged.
Tax changes
From the 2026 tax year, US federal law limits deductions for gambling losses to 90% of losses, so a player who breaks even can still owe tax on part of their winnings if they itemise. Repeal bills have been introduced but none had passed when we checked. Several states also raised operator taxes in 2025, which partly explains leaner promotions. In Great Britain, remote gaming duty rose from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026, and remote betting duty rises to 25% in April 2027. Keep your own records of deposits and withdrawals for any tax reporting.
What players say
The UK site holds about 3.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot from roughly 6,600 reviews, with a split between five-star and one-star ratings. Positive reviews praise the clean app, quick sign-up and fast withdrawals. Negative ones focus on free spins or bonuses that did not appear, withdrawals held for identity or payment checks, and disputed bet settlements. BetMGM replies to almost all negative reviews. There is no comparable Trustpilot profile for the US product, where app store ratings are higher and complaints tend to focus on account verification and bet limits on winning players.
Treat review scores with care: unhappy customers are more likely to post, and none of the reviews are verified. A complaint to your state regulator or, in Great Britain, to an approved ADR service carries more weight than a review.
How BetMGM compares
| Brand | Parent | Loyalty link | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| BetMGM | MGM Resorts and Entain | MGM Rewards | Casino depth and jackpots |
| Caesars | Caesars Entertainment | Caesars Rewards | Resort comps and sportsbook perks |
| FanDuel | Flutter Entertainment | FanDuel rewards | Sportsbook app and pricing |
| DraftKings | DraftKings Inc. | DraftKings rewards | Promotions and same-game parlays |
| Fanatics | Fanatics | FanCash | Merchandise rewards |
For land-based perks, Caesars is BetMGM’s closest rival, with a larger network of resorts. Fanatics and BetRivers are worth a look for simpler rewards. See all our picks on the online casinos and sportsbooks hubs.
How to join BetMGM
- Check that BetMGM is licensed where you are and that you meet the age limit.
- Download the app for your state or province, or open the site in your browser.
- Register with your legal name, date of birth, address and the last four digits of your Social Security number (in the US).
- Allow location access so the app can confirm you are inside the state.
- Choose the welcome offer, read its terms and make a deposit you can afford to lose.
- Set a deposit limit before you play, and upload ID early so your first withdrawal is not delayed.
Never use a VPN or someone else’s details to get around location checks: BetMGM will close the account and keep any winnings, and it can be a criminal offence.
