Stake is the best-known name in crypto gambling: a casino, sportsbook and poker room on one wallet, a long list of in-house originals, and sponsorships that put its logo in front of football, UFC and Formula 1 audiences. It is also an offshore operator licensed in Curaçao, it is shut out of a growing list of countries, and 2026 has brought regulatory pressure from Ireland to Brazil. This review covers how Stake works in October 2026: the licence and the questions around it, which countries it serves, what the welcome offer and VIP programme are really worth, how withdrawals and verification work, and when one of the Stake alternatives is the better choice.
- Operator and licence: Stake.com is run by Medium Rare N.V. under a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence. Reporting in September 2026 raised questions about how that licence was granted; Stake had not commented publicly when we checked.
- Country access is shrinking: its terms listed 45 restricted jurisdictions in September 2026, including the US, the UK, Australia, most of the EU and Ontario. Stake blocked Ireland in September 2026, and in markets such as Italy, Denmark and Alberta it now runs separate, locally licensed sites instead.
- Rewards: the core value is rakeback (3.5% of the house edge, per Stake’s help centre) plus weekly, monthly and reload bonuses through a 15-level VIP ladder that starts at $10,000 wagered. Deposit-match welcome offers depend on the code you sign up with and carry wagering.
- Withdrawals: Stake says there is no maximum crypto withdrawal. Minimums and fees vary by coin, and large withdrawals can be held for manual review.
- Cannot use Stake? Do not use a VPN. Our Stake alternatives guide compares crypto casinos with different country lists, rewards and coins.

Stake changes its offers, coin list and country list often. Everything here was checked against 2026 sources, but the terms and cashier on your own account are the final word.
Our verdict on Stake
On product, Stake is still the benchmark for crypto gambling. The originals are fast, cheap to play and verifiable; the sportsbook is deep enough for serious bettors; crypto withdrawals have no stated upper limit; and the VIP system returns value on every bet instead of hanging everything on a one-off welcome bonus. Few rivals combine all of that under one balance, which is why it tops our crypto casino rankings.
The caveats are about regulation and reach rather than the product. Stake is an offshore casino with a Curaçao licence, which gives you far less protection than a strict regulator, and the leak of Curaçao licensing files in September 2026 put the way that licence was granted under scrutiny. Country access keeps narrowing as more governments license their own markets: Stake left Great Britain in 2025, blocked Ireland in September 2026, and was caught up in Brazil’s ban on all online betting in October 2026. If Stake serves your country today, that may not hold next year.
Stake suits crypto players who want originals, sports betting and steady rakeback in one place, and who accept offshore risk. Keep balances modest, withdraw winnings to your own wallet, and check the restricted list before you register. If Stake does not accept your country, our guide to Stake alternatives is the place to start.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Provably fair Stake Originals with low house edges, typically around 1%.
- Full sportsbook, esports and poker on the same wallet as the casino.
- Rakeback on every bet once you reach Bronze, plus weekly, monthly and reload bonuses.
- No published maximum on crypto withdrawals, and low minimums on cheap networks.
- Two-factor authentication, passkeys and a vault feature for locking funds away from play.
- A large, active user base and clear help-centre documentation for most features.
What to watch
- Curaçao licence offers limited recourse, and 2026 reporting questioned how it was granted.
- Restricted in 45 jurisdictions as of September 2026, a list that has grown in 2026.
- Welcome offers depend on the sign-up code, and deposit bonuses carry wagering.
- Heavy streamer and sponsorship marketing, which has drawn lawsuits and regulatory attention.
- Verification can be requested at any point, and large withdrawals may be held for review.
- Responsible-gambling tools are weaker than those required at regulated operators.
Licence, ownership and safety
Stake.com is operated by Medium Rare N.V., a company incorporated in Curaçao in 2017. Stake was founded that year by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, who had earlier set up the game developer Easygo. Curaçao filings list Mladen Vučković as chief executive. Under Curaçao’s reformed licensing system, which replaced the old master-licence model, Medium Rare N.V. received its own licence from the Curaçao Gaming Authority, reported as OGL/2024/1451/0918 and issued in June 2025.
The September 2026 Curaçao leak
On 17 September 2026 the Curaçao Gaming Authority said it had found unauthorised access to its online licensing portal. Days later the Dutch outlet Follow the Money and European media partners published an investigation based on leaked licensing files. Reports on those files say Stake’s licence was granted while the regulator was still seeking clarity on the company’s ownership and its relationship with Stake’s founders. When we checked in late September 2026, Stake had not commented publicly. There is no finding that Stake has done anything unlawful, but the episode is a reminder of how thin oversight can be in offshore licensing.
What this means for you
A Curaçao licence lets Stake operate legally from Curaçao. It does not give you the protections of a strict regulator such as the UK Gambling Commission: there is no independent complaints service you can rely on, and enforcing anything against an offshore company is slow and costly. Read our crypto casino licence guide to check a licence yourself. In practice your protection comes from how you play: modest balances, prompt withdrawals and two-factor authentication.
Account security
Stake supports two-factor authentication and passkeys, and its vault lets you lock part of your balance away from play. Stake publishes a short list of official mirror domains for when the main site is unavailable. Scammers copy Stake’s branding constantly, so only follow links from the help centre, check the address before signing in, and never share codes from your authenticator.
Countries where Stake.com is not available
A review of section 14.3 of Stake’s terms on 17 September 2026 counted 45 restricted jurisdictions. They include the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, Ontario, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Israel, and most of the EU, including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. Sanctioned and conflict-affected countries are excluded as well.
Several of those countries are not closed to Stake entirely. They are served by separate, locally licensed Stake sites that follow local rules, including full identity checks from the start. Stake has bought or built local operations in Colombia, Peru, Italy (Stake.it) and Denmark, added Mexico in 2026 and recently launched in Argentina. These are different products from Stake.com, usually without crypto, and with different bonuses.
What changed in 2026
- Ireland: Stake blocked Irish players in the week of 7 September 2026 after contact from the new Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, which can seek court orders and large fines against unlicensed operators.
- Brazil: Provisional Measure 1,394 of 25 September 2026 banned fixed-odds betting and online casino games, including from operators based abroad. Licensed sites were taken offline from 6 October and licences end around 25 October. A São Paulo court let Stake keep operating on 8 October, but an appeals judge suspended that order the next day. Supreme Court challenges are pending and Congress must still vote on the measure. See our Brazil market page.
- Canada: Stake received an Alberta licence in October 2026 and planned to launch a regulated site on 12 October, as Alberta requires licensed operators to leave the grey market. Ontario remains on Stake.com’s restricted list. See our Canada page.
- Great Britain: Stake’s British white-label site closed in early 2025 after a Gambling Commission investigation, and there is no legal Stake option in the UK today.
If your country is restricted, do not use a VPN or false details. That breaks the terms, and Stake can close the account and withhold winnings at withdrawal. Our coverage pages and the Stake alternatives guide show which brands serve your market.
Stake.com, Stake.us and local Stake sites
Stake.us is a separate sweepstakes casino for the United States, run by a different company. You buy Gold Coins, which have no cash value, and receive Stake Cash, which can be redeemed for prizes once played through. It is not a crypto casino and you cannot gamble with crypto as you would on Stake.com.
The sweepstakes model is under heavy pressure. California, New York, New Jersey and several other states have banned it, and Stake.us left California at the end of 2025. A US class action filed at the end of 2025 alleges deceptive social-casino practices; in July 2026 a federal judge sent the claims against Stake to private arbitration. If Stake.us is unavailable in your state, an offshore casino is not a legal substitute. Our US market page covers the state-licensed options, and the Stake alternatives guide explains the difference between the two sites in more detail.
Welcome offer and deposit bonuses
Stake has never relied on one standard welcome bonus. Its help centre (August 2026) says the welcome offer is unlocked by entering a valid referral or affiliate code in your account settings within 24 hours of opening the account, and describes that offer as rakeback of 3.5% of the house edge on every game. Some affiliate codes instead unlock a deposit match. October 2026 affiliate pages describe a 200% first-deposit match with 40x wagering on deposit plus bonus, but quote different maximums, from $1,000 to $3,000, and different minimum deposits. We could not confirm any of those figures on Stake itself.
When a deposit bonus is active, Stake applies a deposit bonus requirement: a multiplier on your deposit and bonus that you must wager before you can withdraw. Stake’s own example uses 30x; affiliate offers commonly quote 40x. A progress bar in your account tracks it.
Say you deposit $100 and receive a 200% match, so $300 is in play under a 40x requirement on deposit plus bonus. You must wager $300 × 40 = $12,000 before withdrawing. On slots with a 96% RTP the expected cost of that play is about $480 (4% of $12,000), more than the $200 bonus. On games with a 1% house edge it would be about $120, if those games count in full, which you should check. The bonus softens losses on play you would do anyway; it does not make wagering profitable.
For most players, rakeback with no wagering is the cleaner deal. If you take a deposit match, read which games count, the maximum bet while wagering and any expiry before you deposit. Our bonuses explained guide helps you compare offers.
VIP programme and rakeback
Stake’s VIP programme is where most of its long-term value sits. Joining is automatic: once you have wagered $10,000 you reach Bronze, and sportsbook bets count three times towards progress. Levels are based on lifetime wagering, not deposits or losses.
| Level | Total wagered | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | $10,000 | Rakeback, weekly boosts, VIP Telegram group |
| Silver | $50,000 | Larger weekly and monthly bonuses |
| Gold | $100,000 | Larger bonuses and level-up rewards |
| Platinum I to VI | $250,000 to $10 million | Daily reload bonuses based on recent wagering |
| Diamond I to V | $25 million to $500 million | VIP host and tailored rewards |
| Obsidian | $1 billion | Top tier |
Rakeback is paid on every bet regardless of the result and can be claimed at any time from the VIP page. Stake’s help centre puts it at 3.5% of the house edge on casino games, 3.5% of rake on poker and 3.5% of the theoretical value of sports bets, calculated on a default 3% edge. Weekly boosts go out on Saturdays, monthly bonuses arrive by email, and Platinum players get daily reloads.
Rakeback is a share of the house edge, not of your stake. Wager $20,000 on slots with a 4% edge and your expected loss is $800; 3.5% of that is $28. Wager the same $20,000 on Dice at a 1% edge and your expected loss is $200, so rakeback is $7. Rakeback is real money, but it is a small fraction of the expected loss, and chasing a higher VIP level by betting more raises the loss much faster than the reward.
Weekly and monthly bonuses are discretionary and based on recent play, so they are hard to value in advance. Our rakeback casinos guide compares Stake’s model with flat-rate rakeback at other crypto casinos.
Stake Originals and casino games
Stake Originals are the in-house games that made the brand: Dice, Limbo, Crash, Plinko, Mines, Keno, Hilo, Wheel, Tower and a steady stream of newer titles. They use a server seed, client seed and nonce, so you can verify any result after the round with the published algorithm. House edges are low, typically around 1%, compared with 3% to 5% on most slots. Check the rules panel in each game, because settings and edges can change. Our provably fair guide explains how verification and the maths work.
Low edge does not mean low risk. Originals settle in a second or two, and the number of bets per hour adds up quickly. A 1% edge on $50,000 of fast dice bets is still an expected loss of $500.
Slots, live casino and poker
The third-party library includes the major slot studios, such as Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming and Nolimit City, plus Stake-exclusive titles and a live casino with Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live tables. Stake also runs poker. Some studios release games at several RTP settings, so read the RTP in each game’s info screen. Our RTP guide explains why a few percentage points matter.
Sportsbook and esports
The sportsbook is a real second product. It covers football, tennis, basketball, American sports, cricket, MMA and a large esports section, with live betting, bet builders and cash-out on many markets. Stake’s UFC partnership since 2022 and its football sponsorships shape many of its sports promotions; Everton moved Stake from the front of its shirt to the sleeve for 2026–27 when the Premier League’s front-of-shirt gambling ban took effect.
Margins are competitive on major football leagues and wider on niche markets and props. Compare prices on the matches you actually bet on rather than trusting one headline price. Our crypto sports betting guide shows how to work out a bookmaker’s margin.
Payments, coins and withdrawal limits
Stake.com is crypto first. Its withdrawal table (August 2026) lists about 20 coins and tokens, including BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC, SOL, BNB, XRP, DOGE, TRX, BCH and a handful of ERC-20 tokens. In some regions you can also buy crypto with a card through third-party partners or use local-currency methods, usually at a higher cost than sending crypto yourself.
| Coin | Minimum withdrawal | Stake’s withdrawal fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| USDT | 2.5 USDT | 1 USDT | Choose the network carefully; TRON and Solana are usually cheapest |
| USDC | 2.5 USDC | 1 USDC | Same fee as USDT |
| SOL | 0.0105 SOL | 0.000005 SOL | Fast and very cheap |
| LTC | 0.0186 LTC | 0.000138 LTC | Good for small withdrawals |
| BTC | 0.000025 BTC | 0.0000157 BTC | Network delays when blocks are busy |
| ETH | 0.001 ETH | 0.00067 ETH | Fee is high relative to small amounts |
How fast and how much?
Stake’s help centre says there is no maximum crypto withdrawal: you can withdraw your full available balance. Most withdrawals are processed automatically, and arrival then depends on network confirmations. Larger withdrawals can be held for manual review, and Stake treats withdrawing a deposit straight back without betting as invalid. Delays usually come from an unfinished deposit bonus requirement, a large or unusual withdrawal, or a verification request. Our instant withdrawal guide explains what speeds payouts up. Always check the network before you send so funds do not go to the wrong chain.
KYC and verification
You can register and deposit with an email address and basic details, but Stake is not a no-KYC casino. Its help centre has separate document requirements for proof of identity (including a selfie with your document), proof of address and proof of source of income, and Stake can request any of them, most often around withdrawals, larger wins or unusual activity. Locally licensed Stake sites require full verification at sign-up.
Use your real name and details from the start. A mismatch between your account and your documents is the most common reason a large withdrawal is refused. If light verification matters to you, our no-KYC crypto casinos guide explains the trade-offs.
Player feedback and reputation in 2026
Stake had a Trustpilot score of 3.9 out of 5 from about 12,000 reviews when we checked in October 2026, high for a crypto casino. Recent negative reviews centre on slow or generic support replies, voided bets and account restrictions with funds held, and local-currency deposits that did not arrive. Trustpilot does not verify reviews, so treat these as trends rather than proof.
Stake’s marketing attracts criticism of its own. Its model leans heavily on streamers on Kick, the streaming platform co-founded by Ed Craven, after Twitch banned unlicensed gambling streams in 2022. Lawsuits filed in New York and Florida in April 2026 allege that Stake’s advertising reached children, and a 2026 Bloomberg Businessweek analysis questioned unusually large wins shown on sponsored streams, which Stake called incorrect. In the UK, the government plans to ban sports sponsorship by unlicensed gambling firms from August 2027.
Responsible gambling tools
Stake groups its responsible-gambling information under Stake Smart and offers self-exclusion and account closure through its settings and support. The vault helps separate money you want to keep from money you are prepared to lose. These tools are lighter than those at regulated operators, where deposit, loss and time limits are built in and must be honoured. The chat, weekly boosts and constant promotions are designed to keep you playing, so set your limits before you start.
- Decide a monthly budget and deposit only that amount.
- Withdraw winnings to your own wallet instead of leaving them on the site.
- Do not chase a VIP level; the extra rakeback never covers the extra expected loss.
- Use self-exclusion and device-level blocking if you want to stop.
Our responsible gambling guide lists practical tools and free support services.
How Stake compares with other crypto casinos
| Casino | Main strength | Compared with Stake |
|---|---|---|
| Roobet | Streamer-led originals and Roowards rakeback | Different restricted list; no published maximum withdrawal either |
| BC.Game | Very large library and coin list | More coins and games; weaker licence and reputation |
| Shuffle | Originals and a high-roller VIP ladder | Similar product focus, smaller brand |
| Rainbet | Rakeback and a light sign-up | Simpler rewards, newer brand |
| Duelbits | Esports markets and rakeback-style rewards | Stronger esports angle |
This is a short list. The Stake alternatives guide matches alternatives to playing style, country and coin, and the full list of reviews covers more than thirty crypto brands.
