FanDuel is the largest legal sportsbook in the United States. Owned by Flutter Entertainment, the group behind Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Bet, it took about 39% of US sportsbook gross gaming revenue in the second quarter of 2026 and runs an online casino in five states as well. Licensed state by state, it gives you the protection of US regulators, but what you can bet on, which welcome offer you get and even the cost of each bet depend on where you are. This review covers FanDuel as it is in October 2026: where it is live, what the welcome offers are worth, how the app, prices and same-game parlays compare, how quickly withdrawals land, and the 2026 news that matters to bettors, from FanDuel Predicts to fines, lawsuits and state tax rises.

Key takeaways
  • Live in 24 states plus Washington D.C.: October 2026 lists include Missouri and Arkansas but not Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon or Rhode Island. FanDuel Casino runs in Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. FanDuel also operates in Ontario.
  • Welcome offer: early October 2026 reviews describe a $5 bet each day for five days, worth up to $50 in bonus bets per day and $250 in total; some versions run for seven days and up to $350. No code is needed and bonus bets expire after seven days.
  • Payments: FanDuel stopped taking credit card deposits in the US on 2 March 2026. Debit cards, PayPal and Venmo withdrawals often land within 24 hours.
  • 2026 news: FanDuel Predicts went live in all 50 states in January, Flutter named a new chief executive from 1 October, and regulators in Ontario, Iowa and Massachusetts fined FanDuel over integrity and market failures.
  • Help: if gambling stops being fun, call or text the US national helpline on 1-800-MY-RESET, run by the National Council on Problem Gambling.

State law decides what FanDuel can offer you, so the app differs between New York and Arizona. Everything here was checked against 2026 sources, but the promotions page and terms in your own state are the final word.

Our verdict on FanDuel

FanDuel is the most polished betting app in the US and the one most new bettors end up using. Navigation is quick, the same-game parlay builder is the benchmark others copy, player props are deep, and withdrawals to PayPal, Venmo and debit cards are among the fastest of the big books. It is licensed in every state it serves, so you have a regulator to complain to, and Flutter’s scale means it is not going anywhere.

The cost is in price and promotion. FanDuel is rarely the cheapest place for a standard spread or total, and its parlay products carry the high margins that make it so profitable. The welcome offer is small by historical standards, winning bettors report stake limits, and in Illinois you pay a per-bet fee. 2026 also brought a run of fines over markets it should not have offered, a lawsuit claiming the app is designed to be addictive, and a costly push into prediction markets.

Who it is for

FanDuel suits recreational bettors in legal states who want the smoothest app, strong same-game parlays and fast withdrawals. If price matters, hold accounts at two or three books, such as DraftKings, bet365 and Caesars, and take the best number each time. Compare them all on our sportsbooks page.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Licensed and regulated in every state it serves.
  • Market-leading same-game parlay builder and a deep player-prop menu.
  • Fast withdrawals, often within 24 hours to debit card, PayPal or Venmo.
  • Live streaming on selected events and integrated horse racing in many states.
  • Shared wallet across sportsbook and casino where both are legal.
  • Deposit limits, play-time reminders and self-exclusion built into the account.

What to watch

  • Standard lines are often slightly more expensive than at the sharpest books.
  • Bonus bets keep only the winnings and expire after seven days.
  • A 50-cent fee on each bet in Illinois, paused for part of 2026 and then reinstated.
  • Several 2026 fines for taking bets on markets regulators had not approved.
  • Stake limits for winning bettors and slow support in busy periods.
  • Very low Trustpilot score, driven by disputes over withdrawals, voids and promotions.

Welcome offers in October 2026

FanDuel changes its new-customer promotion often, and October 2026 sources describe it in different ways. A Covers page dated 8 October describes up to $250 in bonus bets: bet at least $5 on each of five days and receive a reward each day worth up to $50. In that version each daily reward is a bet reset token: if the bet you place with it loses, your stake comes back as bonus bets up to $50; if it wins, you keep the cash and get no bonus bets. RG.org’s September 2026 review described $50 in bet reset tokens for seven days, up to $350, and other sources quote a simpler $50 in bonus bets per day, win or lose. None needs a promo code.

Worked example: what the bet reset offer is worth

A bet reset token only pays out when your bet loses. Say you place a $50 bet at -110 using the token. If it wins (about 50% of the time on a fair coin-flip line), you collect $45.45 profit in cash and no bonus. If it loses, you get a $50 bonus bet. Used at +200 with roughly a 31% true chance of winning, that $50 bonus bet is worth about $31 on average (31% × $100). So each token is worth around half of $31, about $15, plus a small cost from the margin on the original bet. Five tokens are worth roughly $75 in expected value, not $250.

App, odds and margins

The FanDuel app is fast, clean and easy to learn, which is a large part of why it leads the market. Popular games and boosted bets sit on the home screen, the bet slip handles straights, parlays, teasers and round robins, and early cash-out is offered on many open bets. Daily odds boosts and profit boost tokens, which add a fixed percentage such as 30% to the profit on a winning bet, appear constantly. Flutter said in August 2026 that it had expanded its loyalty programme to about 70% of US customers.

Prices on main NFL and NBA lines are usually close to the -110 industry standard. FanDuel is often competitive on player props and less so on alternative lines and long parlays. Like every US book, it shades prices where recreational money lands. The only reliable way to beat that is to compare the same bet at several books before placing it.

Worked example: why price shopping pays

If one side of a game is -105 at FanDuel and -115 at another book, the implied probabilities are 105 ÷ 205 = 51.2% and 115 ÷ 215 = 53.5%. On a $110 bet, -105 pays $104.76 profit and -115 pays $95.65, a difference of about $9 for the same outcome. Over hundreds of bets, small price gaps add up to more than any welcome offer.

Our sports betting odds guide explains American odds, implied probability and how to calculate a bookmaker’s margin.

Same-game parlays and live betting

FanDuel built much of its US lead on same-game parlays. You can stack spreads, totals and player props from one game, and SGP+ lets you combine same-game parlays across several games in one slip. Suggested parlays, parlay boosts and occasional parlay insurance promotions keep them at the centre of the app.

The catch is margin. Legs within one game are correlated, so FanDuel prices the combination below the product of the individual odds, and each leg already carries the book’s margin. A three-leg parlay of -110 legs keeps only about 87% of fair value before any correlation adjustment, so the effective margin is roughly 13%. Long same-game parlays are entertainment with very poor odds, not a strategy.

Live betting, streaming and racing

In-play markets cover the main US leagues, college sports, soccer, tennis and more, with fast price updates and frequent suspensions at key moments. FanDuel streams selected events in the app, and its FanDuel TV network and racing products are integrated in many states: 2026 reviews say horse racing bets sit inside the sportsbook app in 15 states, with the standalone FanDuel Racing app elsewhere.

FanDuel Casino

FanDuel Casino is live in Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. 2026 reviews count more than 800 slots and table games, including jackpot slots, blackjack, roulette and live-dealer tables, on the same wallet as the sportsbook. Casino is the growth engine for Flutter in the US: iGaming revenue rose 14% to $577 million in the second quarter of 2026 while sportsbook revenue fell.

Some 2026 player complaints say daily free-spin rewards and casino promotions have become less valuable. Check each game’s return-to-player rate in its information screen, and read our RTP guide. If you play mainly casino, compare FanDuel with BetMGM, Borgata and BetRivers on our casinos page.

Payments and withdrawal speed

FanDuel stopped accepting credit cards for its US sportsbook, casino and racing products on 2 March 2026, following DraftKings, which made the same change in August 2025. Several states ban credit card funding by law in any case, including Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Vermont.

The Illinois per-bet fee

Illinois taxes sportsbooks 25 cents on each of their first 20 million online bets a year and 50 cents on each bet after that. FanDuel was the first to pass this on, adding a 50-cent fee to every Illinois bet from 1 September 2025. It paused the fee from April 2026 until the end of the NBA Finals in June; later trade reports say it has since reinstated the fee. On a $10 bet the fee adds 5%, and on a $2 bet it adds 25%.

FanDuel Predicts and other 2026 news

FanDuel Predicts, built with derivatives exchange CME Group, launched on 22 December 2025 in five states and went live in all 50 states on 15 January 2026. Financial, economic and commodity contracts are available everywhere, but sports event contracts are offered only in states without legal online sports betting, 18 of them at the January launch including California, Texas, Florida and Georgia. FanDuel says it will stop offering sports contracts in any state that legalises online sports betting. Flutter told investors in August 2026 that Predicts revenue was not yet material and that sports and novelty contracts were moving to Crypto.com’s exchange, in coordination with CME.

  • Results and leadership: Flutter’s US revenue fell 6% to $1.68 billion in the second quarter of 2026, with sportsbook revenue down 15% on customer-friendly results and casino up 14%. Peter Jackson stepped down as Flutter chief executive and Dan Taylor took over on 1 October 2026.
  • Taxes: North Carolina raised its online sports betting tax from 18% to 23% in July 2026, over FanDuel and DraftKings’ objections. New Jersey moved to 19.75% in 2025, and Illinois added its per-wager tax.
  • Credit cards: removed from 2 March 2026, days after Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote to sportsbooks about credit card fees. FanDuel said the timing was a coincidence.

Fines and lawsuits

Regulators fined FanDuel several times in 2026. In January Ontario’s AGCO imposed a C$350,000 penalty over more than 140 bets on Czech table tennis matches flagged for possible match-fixing, saying FanDuel failed to identify suspicious activity; FanDuel disagreed and said it had reported the activity itself. In March the Massachusetts Gaming Commission adopted a $5,000 penalty over a 2023 incident, and in August Iowa fined FanDuel $95,000 for taking bets on an unapproved Philippine basketball league and on referees’ yellow and red cards. Iowa had already fined it $125,000 in July 2025.

In September 2026 a Pennsylvania resident sued Flutter and FanDuel in the Allegheny County court, alleging the apps are designed to be addictive and use customer data to send promotions at vulnerable moments, such as late at night or after a big loss. A similar 2025 case against DraftKings was dismissed after a Pennsylvania judge ruled that state law imposes no duty of care on sportsbooks. These are allegations, not findings.

Responsible gambling tools

FanDuel’s tools sit in the account settings under responsible gaming. 2026 reviews list:

  • Daily, weekly or monthly deposit and spend limits, plus wager limits.
  • Play-time reminders that show how long you have been logged in.
  • Time-outs and self-exclusion from three days to 12 months, plus your state’s self-exclusion list for longer periods.
  • A 24-hour cooling-off delay before any limit increase takes effect.

Set limits on the first day rather than after a losing run. Free, confidential support is available 24 hours a day on 1-800-MY-RESET (call or text), the national helpline run by the National Council on Problem Gambling. Our responsible gambling hub and responsible gambling guide cover more tools and services.

Player feedback in 2026

FanDuel has a Trustpilot score of 1.2 out of 5 from about 1,080 reviews, and it does not reply there. Recent complaints cover withdrawals refused or delayed by new verification requests, account suspensions, voided parlay legs, cash-out disappearing when odds move, location-check failures and app freezes, and casino rewards that players feel have been cut back. App-store ratings are much higher because they mostly reflect the app experience rather than disputes. Neither source is verified, so read them as signs of common friction, not proof.

If support cannot resolve a complaint, you can escalate it to the regulator in the state where you placed the bet. That safety net is the main reason to choose a licensed book over an offshore one.
