888 is one of the oldest names in online gambling. The brand dates from 1997, and today 888casino, 888sport and 888poker belong to evoke plc, the London-listed group that also owns William Hill and Mr Green. Unlike most brands on this site, 888 is a fully licensed, fiat-first operator: it holds licences in Great Britain, Spain and Ontario, verifies every player and does not take crypto on its British site. This review covers 888 as it stands in October 2026: the licences and markets, what the welcome offers are worth now that British wagering is capped at 10x, the casino, live casino, sportsbook and poker products, how payments and withdrawals work, and what evoke’s pending sale to Bally’s Intralot and Britain’s 40% gaming duty mean for players.
- Licensed, not offshore: 888 UK Limited holds UK Gambling Commission account 39028, 888 Online Games España holds a Spanish DGOJ licence, and 888 is a long-standing Ontario operator. Players get regulated complaint routes and mandatory safer-gambling tools.
- Welcome offers vary by market: in Great Britain, 2026 reviews describe a 100% match up to £100 with 10x wagering and a £100 cap on bonus winnings; Spain shows 88 free spins plus up to €150 at 20x; Canada lists up to C$1,000 plus 50 spins at 10x. Check your own account before depositing.
- Ownership is changing: evoke agreed on 5 June 2026 to be bought by Bally’s Intralot for 52p a share. Both sets of shareholders have approved it, and completion is expected between late 2026 and early 2027.
- Withdrawals are not instant: e-wallets are typically paid within a day or two of approval, cards in up to five business days and bank transfers in up to ten. Some regional terms add a pending period.
- Reputation lags the product: 888casino.com scored 1.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot in October 2026, with complaints about withdrawal delays, repeated document requests and support.

Our verdict on 888
Our score reflects what matters most to us: a strict licence, a long track record and a full product range under one account. 888 is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and by national regulators in Spain and Ontario, so you have deposit limits, self-exclusion, segregated complaint routes and verified ages from day one. The casino lobby is large, the live casino is broad, and few operators still run their own sportsbook and poker room alongside the casino. That is why 888 sits near the top of our licensed casino rankings.
The weaknesses are real, though. Player reviews are poor, mostly about slow or blocked withdrawals and document requests. The welcome offers are smaller than they used to be, partly because of Britain’s 10x wagering cap and partly because of the 40% Remote Gaming Duty. And 888 is in the middle of an ownership change: evoke carries close to £1.9 billion of net debt and has agreed to sell itself to Bally’s Intralot. None of that puts player balances at risk, because licensed operators must protect customer funds, but it may change offers and products over the next year.
888 suits players in Great Britain, Spain or Canada who want a regulated, all-in-one account with casino, sports and poker, and who value safer-gambling tools over big bonuses. If you want crypto payments, 888 is the wrong place: see our crypto casino rankings instead, and read the licence and country notes there carefully.
Pros and cons

- British welcome offers now carry no more than 10x wagering, and only on the bonus.
- Exclusive 888-branded slots and a large Evolution and Pragmatic Play live lobby.
- Built-in safer-gambling tools, including deposit, loss and time limits and the 888 Control Centre.
- Nearly three decades of operating history under one brand.
What to watch
- Trustpilot score of 1.3 out of 5, driven by withdrawal and verification complaints.
- British bonus winnings capped at £100, which limits the upside of the match.
- Card and bank withdrawals can take several business days.
- Repeated UK Gambling Commission penalties, most recently in November 2025.
- Pending sale of the parent company could change products and offers.
- No crypto payments on the British site.
Licences, ownership and regulatory record
888 Holdings floated in London in 2005, bought William Hill’s non-US business in 2022 and renamed itself evoke plc in 2024. The consumer brands stayed: 888casino, 888sport and 888poker sit alongside William Hill and Mr Green. Each market runs through a local licence holder, which is why the British, Spanish and Canadian sites look similar but have different offers and rules.
| Market | Licence holder | Regulator |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain | 888 UK Limited, account 39028 | UK Gambling Commission |
| Spain | 888 Online Games España, S.A., licence PROLG/00022 | Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) |
| Ontario | 888 Ontario operating entity | AGCO, operating through iGaming Ontario |
| Alberta | Added to the AGLC registry in June 2026 | Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis |
Fines and enforcement
888 has a long record with the UK Gambling Commission. It paid a then-record £7.8 million in 2017 over failures to stop self-excluded customers gambling, and £9.4 million in 2022 over social responsibility and anti-money-laundering failings. Smaller penalties have followed: the Commission’s register shows £23,000 in August 2024 for a breach of the credit card ban and £86,843 in November 2025 for a breach of the self-exclusion code. We found no new 2026 penalty against 888 UK Limited when we checked in October. The record matters because it shows both weaknesses in past controls and a regulator that acts on them, which is the protection you do not get at offshore sites. Our licence guide explains how regulators differ.
evoke in 2026: finances, the sale and the 40% duty
The business behind 888 has had a difficult two years. After the UK Budget of November 2025 raised online gaming duty, evoke withdrew its medium-term targets, said the changes would add about £125 million to £135 million a year to its duty bill once fully in force, and in December 2025 began a strategic review that included a possible sale of the group or some of its businesses.
The Bally’s Intralot deal
On 5 June 2026 evoke’s board agreed a recommended all-share acquisition by Bally’s Intralot, valuing evoke at 52p a share, or about £243 million for the equity. evoke shareholders approved it on 17 August with 99.63% in favour, and Bally’s Intralot shareholders followed on 22 September with 99.585%. Remaining regulatory clearances and a court sanction hearing are still needed, and completion is expected between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. evoke will then leave the London Stock Exchange. Its own going-concern note flags uncertainty about how the new owner will run the group.
Half-year results and the duty hit
evoke’s results for the six months to 30 June 2026 showed revenue flat at £887.5 million and adjusted EBITDA down 9.5% to £150.2 million, after a £46 million rise in gaming duties, mostly in Britain. Net debt rose to £1.9 billion, or 5.6 times earnings, and no dividend was paid. The 888 brand’s revenue fell because the group chose profitability over volume. Italy grew 21% on the back of 888casino, while Spain was weaker in a more competitive market and Romania declined after its own duty increase.
Britain’s Remote Gaming Duty rose from 21% to 40% of gross gaming yield on 1 April 2026. If British players lose £100 on 888casino slots, the duty on that £100 rises from £21 to £40, leaving 888 with £60 instead of £79 before costs. Remote betting duty on sports bets rises from 15% to 25% in April 2027, with UK horse racing held at 15%. Players do not pay the duty directly, but it is one reason British bonuses and promotions have become smaller.
For players, the practical points are simple. Your money is protected by the licence in your market, not by evoke’s share price. Expect fewer and smaller promotions in Britain, and watch for product or brand changes once Bally’s Intralot takes control.
Where 888 is available
This review focuses on Great Britain, Spain and Ontario. We also list 888 for Portugal and for Italy, where 888 Italia Ltd holds ADM concession 16045 (as of September 2026). The group also operates in Denmark, Romania and other regulated countries, and has withdrawn from many smaller markets since 2025.
- Great Britain: 888casino, 888sport and 888poker under UK Gambling Commission rules. You must be 18 or over, verified, and registered with GAMSTOP checks. See our UK market page.
- Spain: a separate .es site under the DGOJ. Only players resident in Spain can register, and identity is checked against Spanish records. See our Spain market page.
- Canada: in Ontario 888 operates as a licensed iGaming Ontario operator. In Alberta, 888 was added to the AGLC registry in June 2026 but was not among the sites live at the July launch; check the AGLC list for its current status. In other provinces, government-run sites remain the legal option. See our Canada market page.
If 888 does not serve your country, do not use a VPN or false details to register. Licensed operators check location and identity, and an account opened that way can be closed with winnings withheld. Our coverage pages list the brands that serve each market.
Welcome offers by market
888 sets its welcome offer by market, and 2026 sources disagree on the details, partly because 888 rotates promotions. The table shows the most consistent figures we found. Treat them as a guide and confirm the current terms on your account before depositing.
| Market | Offer described in 2026 sources | Wagering and key terms |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain | 100% match up to £100 on a first deposit of £10 or more | 10x the bonus, 90 days to complete, bonus winnings capped at £100, some e-wallets excluded (July 2026) |
| Great Britain (alternative) | 50 no-deposit spins, or 100 spins for a £10 deposit and £10 slot play | Winnings at up to 10x; caps of £50 to £300 depending on the version |
| Spain | 88 free spins plus 100% of the first deposit up to €150 | 20x rollover per an October 2026 comparison; spin terms not published there |
| Canada | 100% match up to C$1,000 plus 50 spins across two deposits | 10x wagering on the deposit bonus; Ontario terms can differ (July 2026) |
The British 10x cap
Since 19 January 2026, UK Gambling Commission rules bar operators from setting wagering above 10 times the bonus amount, and from promotions that mix product types, such as sports bets that unlock casino spins. Older 888 offers with 30x or 35x terms no longer apply in Britain, although some review pages still quote them.
Deposit £100 and receive a £100 bonus at 10x on the bonus only. You must wager £100 × 10 = £1,000. On slots with a 96% RTP the expected cost of that play is about £40 (4% of £1,000), well below the £100 bonus, so the offer has positive expected value before the cap. Because bonus winnings are capped at £100, a big win while wagering is trimmed back. The bonus cushions losses; it does not guarantee a profit.
Read the eligible games, the maximum bet while wagering and any excluded payment methods before you opt in. Our bonuses guide and bonus hub show how to compare offers.
Casino and live casino
July 2026 reviews count more than 2,000 games on the British site, from studios including Evolution, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Play’n GO, Big Time Gaming and Red Tiger, plus a long list of 888-branded exclusives built by its in-house studio. Counts are lower in some markets, and Canadian reviews quote anywhere from about 1,200 to 2,500 titles.
Progressive jackpots, Megaways slots and branded games are well represented. RTP varies between versions of the same slot, so open the game information panel and check the figure before playing. Our RTP guide explains why a couple of percentage points matter over thousands of spins.
Live casino
The live lobby runs mostly on Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live, with roulette, blackjack, baccarat, poker variants and game shows. Reviewers count anywhere from 100 to more than 300 tables depending on how they count. Stakes run from low-limit tables to high-limit rooms. Live games usually count less, or not at all, towards bonus wagering.
888sport and 888poker
888sport is the group’s sportsbook, available alongside the casino in Britain, Spain and Ontario. It covers football, tennis, horse racing in Britain, North American sports and esports, with in-play betting, bet builders and cash-out. Since January 2026, British operators cannot link a sports offer to casino spins, so the sports and casino welcome offers are separate. Compare prices on the markets you actually bet on; our odds guide shows how to calculate a bookmaker’s margin, and the sportsbooks hub lists alternatives.
888poker is one of the longest-running online poker brands. Its 2026 programme includes regular streamed final tables and a live event schedule with stops in Madrid, Glasgow and Barcelona. Regulated markets such as Spain and Ontario run ring-fenced player pools, so you play against other players in the same jurisdiction. If you want to play poker with crypto instead, our CoinPoker review covers that option, with the weaker protection that comes with it.
Payments and withdrawal speed
888 is a fiat operator. On the British site you can use debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, paysafecard, Trustly and bank transfer; credit cards are banned for gambling in Britain. Canadian players get Interac e-Transfer, iDebit and MuchBetter, and Spanish players get local options. Crypto is not accepted on the British product, and we found no 2026 source showing crypto payments on 888’s Spanish or Canadian sites either.
| Method | Typical withdrawal time after approval | Where |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal, Skrill, Neteller | Within 24 to 48 hours | Great Britain, Spain |
| Apple Pay | 1 to 3 business days | Great Britain |
| Visa or Mastercard debit | 1 to 5 business days | All three markets |
| Interac e-Transfer | 1 to 3 days | Canada |
| Bank transfer | 2 to 10 business days | All three markets |
Two things slow payouts down. First, every player must pass identity checks before the first withdrawal, and 888 can ask for further documents, such as bank statements, under affordability and anti-money-laundering rules. Second, some regional terms include a pending period before processing starts; Gambling.com’s Irish review described three days. Withdraw to the same method you deposited with where possible. Our deposits and withdrawals guide explains the checks in more detail.
Responsible gambling tools and helplines
As a licensed operator, 888 must offer safer-gambling tools and honour them. They include deposit limits by day, week or month, loss and session limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion, plus the 888 Control Centre, which shows your activity, spending and session time in one place. British accounts are checked against GAMSTOP, Spanish accounts against Spain’s national self-exclusion register (RGIAJ), and Ontario accounts follow iGaming Ontario’s rules.
| Market | Free support | National self-exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain | National Gambling Helpline (GamCare), 0808 8020 133, 24 hours | GAMSTOP |
| Spain | FEJAR, 900 200 225; jugarbien.es (DGOJ) | RGIAJ register |
| Ontario | ConnexOntario, 1-866-531-2600, 24 hours | iGaming Ontario self-exclusion |
- Set a deposit limit before your first deposit, not after a loss.
- Treat gambling as paid entertainment and decide a monthly budget in advance.
- Use the activity view in the Control Centre to check how much you have really spent.
- Take a break or self-exclude if gambling stops being fun.
Our responsible gambling guide and responsible gambling hub list more tools and support services.
Player feedback in 2026
Player feedback is the weakest part of 888’s profile. On Trustpilot, 888casino.com scored 1.3 out of 5 from about 3,100 reviews when we checked in October 2026, with around 550 in the previous twelve months and most of them one-star. The recurring complaints are withdrawals pending for days or weeks, accounts restricted after wins, repeated requests for identity documents and bank statements, and support that relies on chat bots and email. 888 had not replied to recent negative reviews.
Some of this is common to all licensed operators, because affordability and source-of-funds checks are a regulatory requirement, not a choice. Some is specific to 888. Trustpilot does not verify reviews, so treat them as trends. If you have a dispute in Britain, complain to 888 first and then take it to its approved alternative dispute resolution provider; in Spain and Ontario, the regulator publishes complaint routes.
How 888 compares with other licensed brands
| Brand | Main strength | Compared with 888 |
|---|---|---|
| LeoVegas | Mobile-first casino owned by MGM | Similar markets; no in-house poker |
| bet365 | Sportsbook depth and live streaming | Stronger sportsbook; casino less central |
| BetMGM | MGM jackpots and UK casino | Casino-led in the UK; shares technology with LeoVegas |
| Betway | Sports and esports across many markets | Wider country list; smaller exclusive slot range |
| Unibet | Casino, sports and poker under one roof | The closest all-round match in Europe |
If you are comparing 888 with crypto casinos such as Stake, remember they are different products: 888 offers regulated protection and fiat payments, offshore crypto sites offer faster crypto withdrawals with far less recourse. Our full list of reviews covers both.
How to open an 888 account and withdraw
- Open the site for your own market and confirm you are 18 or over (19 in most Canadian provinces).
- Register with your real name and address, which 888 checks against official records.
- Set deposit and time limits in your account settings before depositing.
- Read the current welcome offer terms, then opt in only if you accept the wagering and caps.
- Deposit with a method you can also withdraw to, such as a debit card or PayPal.
- Request a small first withdrawal early to complete verification before you have a larger balance.
Keep a record of deposits and withdrawals so you can see what you have really spent over a month.
